Working with

Warehouses

Warehouses and storage facilities are very susceptible to unwanted pests here in Perth. Complete Pest Management Services can inspect your premises and provide you with a comprehensive tailored protection plan for you, your clients and stock to meet all your legal and preventative requirements.

Most common pest problems in and around storage facilities are caused by rodents, however depending on the products you are storing you may also have additional treatment requirements for pests, such as cockroaches, pigeons, moths, beetles or weevils.

Drugstore Beetles

The drugstore beetle and cigarette beetle are in the same family, and look very similar. Drugstore beetles are also very small insects, measuring 2 to 3.5 mm they plague businesses by feeding on flour, spices, cereals and other dried stored foods.

Flour Beetles

There are several species of flour beetles, but they all have one thing in common: they are attracted by flour, pet foods, and cereal products. Flour beetles are common in big warehouses and storage facilities across the world and are often found in groups close to their food sources. They are small, tubular, reddish insects measuring 3 to 4 mm. Flour beetles are particularly destructive because they give the flour a strange colour and bad odour.

Warehouse Beetles

The most destructive, of all warehouse pests are the warehouse beetles. These small, oval-shaped insects can wreak havoc and damage numerous products such as nuts, dried pet food, barley, legumes, seeds, wheat, and more.

Rice, Granary and Maize Weevils

There are various species of weevils of varying shapes, sizes, and colours. Weevils can always be identified by the shape of their heads: adult weevils feature a snout-like head, with an elongated tip that can be as long as their bodies.

Indian meal Moths

Indian meal moths are one of the most common warehouse pests. They attack a large variety of goods, including birdseed, dried pet food, bread, dried soup mixtures, pasta, flour, and spices — just to name a few. Adults can be found far away from their food source, so they are often misidentified as clothing pests rather than warehouse pests.

HACCP Compliance

HACCP is an internationally recognised method of identifying and managing risk related to food safety compliance. In 2017, HACCP released an updated Pest Management Standard, and the requirements that must be met by a pest management company to achieve HACCP Australia certification.

Although these standards are voluntary, we are pleased to say that we meet them - and we are well qualified to help you meet your commercial hygiene obligations.
